My friend Kim Kent messaged me: did I have some zines and want to do a popup at her shop Drink Books? Yes, if I could bring a bunch of zines from other Seattle publishers too! And we could use that as a deadline for publishing her Drink Books zine, of essays about books and wine.
We set the date for Saturday, May 14th, made a poster for around town, emailed friends, and, somewhat scrambled-ly, made a bunch of new zines, including Drink Books zine, Climate Emergency Reading Recs, Getting Started with Making Electronic Music.
It was fun collaborating with Kim on the poster design (what can we design and risograph print in 15 min, have to let go of "good" in favor of "done") and the layout of the zines in the popup. We barely made it, stuffing Fresh Flours breakfast tacos in our mouths in the minutes before the shop opened. It was so good to see lots of friends and meet new people who came out to the popup.
