Yesterday I made fire cider, an infusion of apple cider vinegar with garlic, diced onions, horseradish, grated ginger. (There are lots of variations—I picked up the book Fire Cider by Rosemary Gladstar from the library.) Now it’s time to let it sit for three or four weeks in the warm spot by the radiator in the kitchen, giving it a shake most days. Then I’ll strain out the solids (and maybe dehydrate and powder them), mix in some warmed honey, and then bottle up the fire cider to drink.

I love weird spicy vinegars that you take a little shot, or mix a tablespoon or two in with some water. After having some that a friend had made, it’s been on my list to make it for like 5 years… now, soon, at last!

I have the sense that part of the reset I’m in the midst of right now needs to involve a lot of things like making fire cider. Doing the small projects or activities or taking little adventures that are just for fun. Action! Permission! Abundance! Also, ritual and intention and pulling my attention back to the physical.
